  Collision objects not containing smoke
Posted by: jayroth - 07-20-2019, 03:41 PM - Forum: FumeFX [C4D] - Replies (5)

In beta 2, I tried to have Fumefx smoke run through a closed channel with a variety of diameter changes. I was using a simple emitter with the box option. The closed channel mesh was like a tube, though closed at one end. It also has thickness and is water-tight. The normals are oriented correctly.

Sadly, the smoke just goes through it as if it is not even there, even though the fumefx collider tag was applied to the channnel mesh.

does not work correctly.
Did 2 versions from this file . First I kept the simulation static (disabled animation of cylinder) and in viewport everything looks fine, but if I animate the simulated container with the cylinder, rendering to picture viewer only last frames will render the smoke. ( motiontest.mp4)
Second test - simulate while the cylinder (and container as a child) is moving. Again looks fine in viewport, however if rendered to picture viewer, there is a bad offset and not all frames render smoke expected.

just made a new simulation and now you see as well in viewport what´s happening - calulation extends to wrong side ...

  Idle Time in between Frames
Posted by: mudskipper - 07-16-2019, 03:22 PM - Forum: FumeFX [C4D] - Replies (9)

Hi,

During sim, after the "Advect Fields done" i am getting quite long what appears to be "idle time" on the cpu. Is that expected behavior? the sim frames are about 800 mb each written to an ssd so i guess its not the writing to disk that takes time. Quite long means up to 30 sec.

cheers for any hints

  inconsistent mesh = crash?
Posted by: oooskar - 07-16-2019, 03:14 PM - Forum: FumeFX [C4D] - Replies (4)

Hi, I saved out an dissolving volume (meshed [hi res]) as an alembic and reimported it to use it as an object emitter in fume.
the polycount is of course inconsistent but fume should handle this afaik. anyway, its always crashing...

any ideas?

bests, oskar.

Save Settings Dialog for Fume FX Objekt
Posted by: mudskipper - 07-15-2019, 09:31 AM - Forum: FumeFX [C4D] - Replies (1)

hi,

Would it be possible to get a save settings dialoge in the fume fx object ? Just save all settings to a txt file and be able to load them back into any other fume fx object.

cheers

  Real Flow interaction

I was wondering if it was possible to make fumefx particles/emitters from real flow meshes?

It's showing Question Mark in the object manager but I can see the icon

  [Suggestion] preview video progress
Posted by: Or1on - 07-12-2019, 10:22 PM - Forum: FumeFX [C4D] - Replies (2)

Hi Sitni Sati! I noticed that fumefx doesn't have progress bar when you render preview video (actually I saw bar for a second, just before ffx cache is loaded, but then he's disappearing)

Please make sure that you point installer to the Cinema 4D install folder so that plugins will be placed to correct location.

FumeFX 5 for Cinema 4D Beta2 changes

- added gravity
- added turbulence parameters
- fixed crashing during simulation if FFX parameters are changed
- fixed crashing during simulation on C4D exit or scene close
- fixed crashing during simulation if FFX is removed from the scene (works also in PP sim)
- fixed object can be added/removed during simulation
- fixed undo/redo crash
- added new sync between c4d main thread and fumefx simulation thread
- fixed object source didnt extract polygons from modifiers/deformers or virtual obj
- fixed collision tag didnt extract polygons from modifiers/deformers or virtual obj
- fixed wind scale parameter
- added turbulence parameters in FumeFX grid attributes
- added Arnold 5.3.1 support

When you submit a bug report please include:
- Cinema 4D version
- Windows version
- Processor type
- Graphic card model and driver version
- C4D scene
