Hi,
I am new with dreamscape and just installed it. I am making a beach scene where the camera is on the beach eye leveled. I am modeling the beach and not using the dreamscape terrain. Is there away to use infinite seasurface option and still offset the seasurface starting like 20 meters from camera ? Or is the workflow more like modeling the beach on top of the water so beach just blocks the infinite seasurface. I hope that was understandable

Floating objects with Simple Waves

I'm using simple waves in my ocean to simulate the deep ocean swells while the regular seasurface does the smaller waves.
My problem is, when I try to dynamically float an object in my ocean, the simple waves are ignored and the object only reacts to the seasurface waves. Is there any way around this?
Rhys.

After burn and Final Render Crash with PFlow

Here's a new one.
This time it's a bit tricky, as it is a problem with inter plug-in compatibility.
I will send this post on the cebas forum also so don't be mad .
Build a Pflow particle stream and devide it. For example shoot particles leaving a particle trail and after let's say 30 frames explode them into new particles leaving their own trails. We're aiming at a palm tree-look-effect. Now assign to each of the trails events a PFAburn operator since we will want to have two different aburn effects on them.
Here's what happens:
- if you assign Aburn effect to entire Pflow, everything renders in both scanline and Final Render,
- if you assign an afterburn effect to the PFAburn operators and render with scanline, it renders,
- if you do the same and render with Final Render, Max crashes
I can send you my max scene if you want.
You think there's a chance of solving this. I know there is a simple walkarround, just render with scanline, but it would be nice to have everything working

sea surface bump

Kresimir,
I've been using Vray to render my DS sea surface and have come up with some rather pleasing results.
The only downside is that I have to use Max's standard noise procedurals to get the fine detail bumps (because I'm using a Vray material instead of the DS sea material) as opposed to using the special 'sea surface bump'.
Is there any chance of being able to apply the special 'sea surface bump' to my vray material through the bump channel?
Many thanks,
Rob.

help with DS engine

Can anybody offer some help with setting up a DS engine on my boat?
I thought it was going to be really simple -
step1) add DS engine to scene
step2) position DS engine underwater and to the rear of the boat
step3) link DS engine to boat (boat is using DS dynamics for motion)
step4) alter 'force' parameter to suit velocity
...but.... nothing happens.
Have I missed a step... like 'start engine'?
Thanks in advance,
Rob.

moving foam resources to a different path

Hello,
I'm working on a sea animation with foam (both sea foam and dynamics foam). I exported all the foam textures to a local directory on my pc but now I'm sending the file to a renderfarm and need to relink the resources to a specific path. What is the best way to do that? For the sea foam I noticed that copying the texture folder to the new location and reexporting the first frame with the new path I can obtain the expected result while I couldn't find a workaround to relink the dynamics foam.
Anyone can help? Thanks in advance,
Enrico

Afterburn and render elements

Hi,
I've recently come across a weird problem. How can I see after burn effect in render elements images? I mean I know I have to flip the "create image channels" switch and I do. The result is that I do get, for instance, the z-depth data in the virtual frame buffer and as an image channel when I save into an RPF file. But when I go to render elements and export the z-depth data as an additional file the z-depth image is blank. I even set up a scene with a stream of particles and a row of spheres next to it and rendered that. My z-depth image showed just the spheres
It's really frustrating since I see in the frame buffer that the z-depth data is being generated for after burn, it just isn't saved into a file through render elements. Any suggestions?
PS. I'm using Max 8 sp3 and AB 3.2a.
