Is pflows particle count independant of a fume sim?

Hi Folks,
Just wondering, if I do a fume / pflow setup it seems that I can change stuff like pflow birth amounts without having to re-sim fume - is it a case where pflow is taking the nearest fume vector in a grid and using it as a simple direction - in other wards is the fume follow operator giving direction to pflow in a simple fashion so I can keep upping the amount of particles I use without needing re-sims?

Hi,
is it likely to be possible to use renderfarms to do calculations at some point?
Even if they couldn't share calculations within a single grid, it would be useful if you could assign them to multiple grids within a single scene.
Thanks,
Steve

Here is the scenerio:
I have lettering that is made out of smoke using fumeFX. How do I make it to where the wind blows the lettering away? Ive tried some different settings and played with the wind settings but I'm not getting the right results. I can get the smoke to blow in the direction I need it to go but it seems that the smoke keeps emitting from the object source.

p Flow follow op not accurate

Hello,
I am using Fume to sim movement, then P flow to create parts.
but ...
p Flow follow op is not getting very accurate results. (parts moving at near 1/2 speed with little shape.
It seems as i increased the rate of movement in fume, i got much worse results.
I had much more accurate results with other setups, including earlier versions of the current set up I am working on.
any ideas

FumeFX Not Appearing in GI RE?

we expect the smoke should appear in the GI render element (RE) but it does not?
this occurs with finalRender... haven't tried the others yet...
the FFX grid object has all switches set to enable GI
the fR GI engine considers atmospherics
not sure what else it would be...
thanks

I find that if i simulate starting from any frame other than 0, my sim disappears when i click in the viewport.
Did i miss something ?
Otherwise, this is by far the most amazing plugin ever.
Here“s to you SitniSati - well done !

Question about FFXGrid

Hi,
I understand that the effect will only be calculated within the area covered by the grid, but I have a question.
If you have a character moving across a wide area, should you cover the entire area with the grid, or is it safe to link to the character as long as the effect fades fairly quickly?
Or is that a no-no?
Thanks,
Steve

Hello,
In the case of FumeFX crashes 3ds max, a .dmp file will be written to WINDRIVE:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Temp
If you see 3dsmax_minidump.dmp with adequate date, please send it to mailto upport@afterworks.com and we'll take a look at it.
Regards,
Kresimir
