I am learning fume fx at the moment
Just like any new tool I am trying to get up to speed quickly by finding the few really important things about the tool.
I learned a lot in the last two days but here are some questions I have which I don't understand and I feel its best to ask for help
I followed this tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGjLVVcjFKs and try to port it to c4d r21, then used it as a basic tut to explore.
For now, it looks nothing like the original but I also started tweaking parameters to learn.
here is my file:

My main questions
1) how do I limit calculation times going towards infinite. this is the biggest problem as I can't really cache the simulation, it gets longer and longer per frame.
I am aware of max iterations and limited to 100.
Whichever spacing I choose the calculation never finishes on a longer frame range.
step size 0.3 about 40 frames in it get super slow
step size 0.7 about 100 or so frames it get super slow
I must be missing something!
2)

How do you render it without being blocky in redshift? I am aware this is more of a redshift question but I am hoping someone could help here who uses redshift. I played with all settings in the shader. I am asking here because I haven't had the same problem when I used other smoke effect software using the same shader.

| Cinema 4D R23 new update needed please |

Hello. As you know Maxon released Cinema 4D R23 today. According to their web developer site at:
https://developers.maxon.net/?p=3633
they state the following:
"Concerning plugins binary compatibility, plug-ins that were built for S22/R21 will not work in R23 and they need to be rebuilt, upon bringing the changes needed to compile against the new API."
Indeed none of the test plug-ins I installed to the R23 directory show up inside C4D R23.
Does FumeFX C4D need an update, and any ideas when an update might be released?
Thank you!

Any tips on params to alter to make decent use of previously dialed in sims without having to RnD from scratch? A lot of these were months of RnD and don't have time to re-engineer.
Basically looking for info to be able to resim and get close to the same result:
old ffx v3 sims but simming in ffx v4
-and-
old ffx v3 sims but simming in ffx v5
For example: multiply fuel expansion by 3x, etc.
Thanks!

Hi, thanks for an awesome plug-in !!!
What are the steps for using an Initial State - how do I bring up the floater menu. I cant find it.
- Floater Menu > File > Load initial state
cheers,
Richard

Loving FumeFX! I'm messing about with a ship rising out of the clouds, but it looks like there's a bounding box around the object. Is the any way to improve the collision accuracy?

Hello,
I am making an underwater ink scene where i have 2 smoke plumes colliding, one red and the other blue. I am trying to transfer colors from my simulation to particles that are following the smoke, the problem is it appears like the smoke color is being multiplied by the transparency or some other type of data. If you enable the voxel data display in the view port (2d slice) you can see there are a lot of very dark/black voxels around the colored voxels and the particles are inheriting this instead of the raw color. If i manually assign a color via an effector i dont get this issue, however i dont know if an effector would be able to help in this situation.
Is there some way to have fume output only the raw colors of the voxel? I have tried transfering the colors to the particles via vertex colors, i have also tried using the fumefx tex3d, but both of these methods also have this issue. Perhaps there is a way to use maxscript? (although im clueless with max script)
