Has anyone installed Max 2009 x64, Cebas Thinking Particles 3 sp1 and FumeFX already?
Did you manage to install the FFX TP plugin?
(all installers latest from cebas and sitni webpage)
When I installed FFX the TP plugin option was not checked - which I found strange since I had TP installed.
Nevermind, I checked the plugin, and installed FFX.
Upon running Max - error.
Not just a tipical one - an almost fullscreen window saying there was a problem accessing E:\3dsmax6(!!!!!)\something something
You may choose to continue but Max will probably screw you anyway.
Continue...
And offcourse: please send a report to autodesk since Max has crashed.
So I went into FFX directory and deleted the FumeFX_TP.dlo
This time everything worked like a charm.
Fume runs, simulates.
But what is with the tp plugin???
I can provide you a screen capture of the error if you need it.

Guys common!!!
We're preparing to move to Max 2009.
This weekend I upgraded two mashines:
Vista x64, Max 2009 x64, DS 2.5d
I hoped that I'll get over this problem:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=641
by moving on to different software, no luck.
I downloaded the only DS installer for Max2009 from Sitni's site.
Just default settings:
- ds sun
- dreamscape
- change the default cloud layer to cirrus
- coverage to 1.0 (to see the clouds)
- BLOCKYNESS BLOCKYNESS BLOCKYNESS
No hardware in common:
Athlon 64 3000
2GB RAM
ATI radeon 9600
Vista ultimate x64
--------
2x Xeon 2,66
8GB RAM
ATI FireGL 5600
Vista Bussiness sp1 x64
That's about 16 mashines I got it on now. With two Max versions!!!
I can't believe noone else is having this problem :o

Hi,
I cannot get motion blur to work in v1.1 of fumeFX...
I have tested this with our project and the Example "campfire_tut_finished" scene which works in v1.0 of fumeFX.
We are using 3DStudio MAX 9 x64. on Windows XP 64, running on a BOXX PC (Dual-Core AMD Opteron 2.41Ghz) with 8GB of RAM.
I have tryed re-caching, restarting the PC, still not working.
Anybody else had this problem?
Thanks

| shadow artifacts caused by fire on matte shadow plane |

With fire and smoke being rendered together, the fire seems to create artifacts on the matte shadow ground plane created by the smoke - almost as if it's trying to add light back onto the shadow. This is with max scanline renderer and using standard matte/shadow material. If I turn off the fire shader, it renders a clean cast-shadow. Is there a workaround?
Thx,

Hi folks,
I'm having a bit of a problem at the moment getting my fume sl licenses to install under max 9 32 bit on a windows 64 machine - it opens the acap licensing dialog and when I pick localhost and choose authorise, the turbosquid window comes up and max freezes - I can sometimes get to the stage of picking authorise manually but I can't type into the dialogs to enter my serial details. I also notice that max process usage goes up quite a bit in task manager. Has anyone seen this or is there another way to license the machine? Since we've 3 64 bit machines I'd rather auth them for when I get max 64 on.
Cheers!
John
