Max 2009 - cirrus - blocky artifacts!!!
#1
Guys common!!!
We're preparing to move to Max 2009.
This weekend I upgraded two mashines:
Vista x64, Max 2009 x64, DS 2.5d
I hoped that I'll get over this problem:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=641

by moving on to different software, no luck.
I downloaded the only DS installer for Max2009 from Sitni's site.

Just default settings:
- ds sun
- dreamscape
- change the default cloud layer to cirrus
- coverage to 1.0 (to see the clouds)
- BLOCKYNESS BLOCKYNESS BLOCKYNESS

No hardware in common:
Athlon 64 3000
2GB RAM
ATI radeon 9600
Vista ultimate x64
--------
2x Xeon 2,66
8GB RAM
ATI FireGL 5600
Vista Bussiness sp1 x64

That's about 16 mashines I got it on now. With two Max versions!!!

I can't believe noone else is having this problem :o

Hi Filip,

I'm onto it for a while, but so far cannot find the cause. It is fine here on 32 bit system, but max 2009 x64
gives the same result as yours. It's probably a change in compiler or something like it and it's very hard to locate what causes it... and it seems only to appear on cirrus clouds..

Yes exactly.
It's so nice to finally hear from you - thought I was going crazy for a while Smile
If you have a build to test - let me know Wink

Hi Filip,

It's summer and vacation time, so answers comes slower than usual.
This bug is very tricky to find as nothing actually crashes (crash is very easy to locate and fix).
I will definitely let you know when it gets fixed.

Thank you.

Hello,

I know that this bug was fixed, but have no idea how afterworks.dlu that still has this
bug ended up in installer !

Since we have brand new installers, I hope you all are going to excuse us for minor defects Smile

New installer will be uploaded in cca 2hrs, and you're free to download it and try again.

Regards,

Kresimir

That was a really hard one to find, as there was actually no bug.
It was a computation precision issue and it occurred in the most weirdest place Smile
