  FumeFX 1.1 Sims unexpectedly stopping
Posted by: Jordan - 08-11-2008, 07:23 AM - Forum: FumeFX & NodeWorks [max] - Replies (4)

I have been doing both network sims (through Deadline) and local machine sims and have found that sometimes they will just stop before the end frame and have a continue.tmp file in the dir but I am unable to continue. It keeps saying that it found continue data or that it found data for frame 0 but the spacing is different. It has happened a few times since I moved to 1.1 and on different files
Im on Max9 64bit on XP64 with Fume 1.1

  FumeFX calculating on GPU?
Posted by: Jordan - 08-11-2008, 12:49 AM - Forum: FumeFX & NodeWorks [max] - Replies (4)

I was just reading about the physX implementation on Nvidias GPUs. Just wondering if Fume could use the GPU as an extra processor?

animated keys not accessible in trackview
Posted by: bdemetz - 08-04-2008, 10:22 PM - Forum: FumeFX & NodeWorks [max] - Replies (3)

Apologies if this is already a thread. I searched the forums first.

I've animated the 'speed multiplier' on a deflecting object in fume and when browsing the trackview to go edit those values, keyframe #'s, etc., I've noticed they don't show up. I can scrub to the frame #'s and change the values of course, but now I can't change the frames the values exist on.

Workaround? bug?

Thx again,

Advantages of rendering with Vray or FinalRender?
Posted by: bdemetz - 08-04-2008, 07:42 PM - Forum: FumeFX & NodeWorks [max] - Replies (3)

We are considering acquiring one of these renderers for an upcoming feature (we currently use scanline to render ffx), but I'd like to ask what the advantages there would be. The first one I know of:

--GI off of fire onto scene geometry
--renderer's more realistic mblur (instead of image mblur rendering effect) ??
--other advantages?

  AB4 and TP3 - transfer particle rotation

Can TP transfer particle rotation (or scale) to AB?
Like through AB operator in PFlow?

  Scene render problem
Posted by: tglinskas - 08-02-2008, 04:26 AM - Forum: AfterBurn - Replies (9)

I rendered a scene in AB 3.2c and everything looked great. I then upgraded to AB 4.0 and now have a rendering issue. I'll include an image to show what's going on. As you will notice, the smoke trails are patchy and when rendered in 3.2c they were smooth and billowy.

  FusionWorks and DreamScape?
Posted by: johnswafford - 07-29-2008, 11:30 PM - Forum: DreamScape - Replies (2)

From what I've read, FusionWorks will eventually allow correct blending of all of AfterWorks' atmospheric plugins (FumeFX/AfterBurn/DreamScape/ScatterVL Pro) in 3ds Max.

Is this something that DreamScape 2.5 can or will do, or will this be introduced in DreamScape 3?

Error code: 127 only under 64 bit Versions
Posted by: unexpected - 07-29-2008, 12:17 PM - Forum: AfterBurn - Replies (15)

Hello all,

I have installed AfterBurn 3.2c on my machines for Max8, Max9 x32, Max9 x64, Max2008 x32 and Max2008 x64 on Windows XP Pro 64bit.

Only under Max9 x64 and Max2008 x64 comes up the following error message:

Max9 x64:
c:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 9\plugins\Afterworks\Afterburn\AfterBurn.dlr> failed to initialize.
Error code: 127 The specified procedure could not be found.

Max2008 x64:
c:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2008\plugins\Afterworks\Afterburn\AfterBurn.dlo> failed to initialize.
c:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2008\plugins\Afterworks\Afterburn\AfterBurn.dlr> failed to initialize.
Error code: 127 The specified procedure could not be found.

The pathes and the plugin.ini are allright and the files are in the folder.
With all other Maxes there is no error message, so what's up there with the 64bit versions???

Any idea?

Is it "safe" to buy Afterburn 4.0
Posted by: Stefan - 07-27-2008, 08:42 AM - Forum: AfterBurn - Replies (7)

I have Afterburn 3.2 but I am thinking of buying 4.0 but I read so much about bugs in v4.0 so maybe I should wait?
Not so fun to buy a plugin with so many bugs in it...

Or, have them been fixed? Not so much info in this board anymore...
