Evaluating Dreamscape
#1
I'm trying to evaluation Dreamscape for possible purchase and it's really hard to work with in Max 8 because of the bugs in the demo release. Is there any way to get the update for Max 8 so that we can really make sure it's going to work within our pipeline? Either that, or is there a demo version for Max 9 we can try?

Hello,

We will make a demo version for 3ds max 9 soon.
What are the problems you're experiencing with 3ds max 8 version of DreamScape ?

There is the bug that has been reported before where the "Use Layer" checkbox for clouds gets turned off randomly and you lose your cloud settings. I believe that has been fixed in the update.

And then I'm running into a similar bug that I haven't seen mentioned, where the terrain object's width and height get set to 0 randomly, and all the settings get lost.

So it's making it hard to really test the software and take it through making a complete scene because I can't work with anything for a long enough period before all my work gets lost.

Any estimates on the Max 9 demo delivery?

Hello,

That is actually now a bug, but it is a limitation of a demo version - all parameters are reset on scene saving. You will need to disable auto backup as well in order to work with demo version.

Okay, thanks. I didn't realize that. It might be good to add a big warning about this somewhere for the people trying out the demo. I just thought it was super buggy.

I'm still interested in seeing a demo version for Max 9. Do you have any idea when that might come out?
