Fumefx 5.0 Maya
#1
Hi, I'm just wondering if you can give us an update on the Maya port for Fumefx 5.0. I know it's tricky to estimate, but we are going into an R&D fase over the summer, and it would be wonderful if that could involve FumeFX 5.

Best Regards, Asger

Hello Asger,

That's really hard to tell.
Right now we're improving nParticle support and Arnold shader and as soon those two are done, we'll be close to release.

Allright, that's great to hear though. I was worried that viewport 2.0 was causing trouble. (nParticles can be a pain in maya as it is, so any help from third parties is much appreciated Big Grin )

We will wait. Thanks for the update

Best regards, Asger

Hey guys just installed this....but when I go to render, I get nothing when rendering with Arnold. Is there anything particular I need to do to get it to render?
I'm using Linux. I get no errors...just black, and nothing in the alpha. I've selected arnold shader in the dropdown but all options are greyed out. I tried placing an arnold volume shader on the fume fx node but nothing...

Hello Keith,

If you keep the FumeFX Standard Shader, you will also need to download and install FumeFX-Arnold shader installer.

If using the FumeFX Arnold shader, please consult the help file.
http://docs.afterworks.com/FumeFX5maya/ ... Volume.htm

For debugging, in Arnold Diagnostics set Verbosity to "Info" and send the Output Window information.

Hi Kresimir,

Yep, I've downloaded and installed the FumeFX-Arnold shader.

It's in /path/to/MtoA/shaders/

6943258 Oct 22 12:21 FumeFXShader.so

and the extensions are in:

/path/to/MtoA/extensions/

1005 Oct 22 12:21 FumeFXExtension.py

Hello,

1: [mtoa] No light in scene

Do you have any light in the scene?
Can you see anything in alpha channel?

Hi even with a light in there still nothing, nothing in alpha.

Can we send a scene?

Yes, please.
You can attach the scene to this topic or email us at support@afterworks.com

Thank you.

I had a similar problem...not sure if same thing. I installed FumeFX5.0, and the FumeFX Arnold shader. Then I realized I didn't have updated Arnold 5.2.0.0 installed. I install new mtoa and I didn't get a render. I had to repair/reinstall the FumeFX Arnold Shader AFTER mtoa install and it worked.

Hmmm we are using Arnold core 5.1.0.1. Would that be a problem?
  Reply
#17
Yes, that might be the problem as Arnold 5.2 is an SDK break.

I'm also having problems -
MtoA - latest version. installs Arnold Core 5.1.1.1
Just to be clear - to get arnold rendering I do have to install SDK?
