you can do this with a workaround already 
1) do your fracture setup - I´ve choosen Cinema dynamics - and bake it.
2) xparticles setup : fracture below connect, emit from inside faces, emit TP. If worldspeed of particles is below a defined limit after a few frames, kill particles.
3) do a particle source setup for fumefx ....
