  GPU Preview + Viewport Background
Posted by: Intrinsia - 10-16-2013, 04:38 PM - Forum: FumeFX [max] - Replies (2)

Is it in any way possible to include the viewport background in the FFX preview window? Would helpful in trying to match movement/speed of Fume to background footage.

Thanks

  pattern
Posted by: mixepix - 10-13-2013, 02:50 PM - Forum: FumeFX [maya] - Replies (2)

Hi!

When I use an object emitter I often get ugly patterns like in the attached picture especially when I'm using wavelets. The smoke looks great when it starts to move so I don't want to up the resolution. Is there a way to smooth it out?

  Smoothness in Sim
Posted by: davidSchoneveld - 10-09-2013, 06:45 PM - Forum: FumeFX [maya] - Replies (3)

I'm trying to figure out how to smooth parts of the sim that are getting... rough/spotted/broken. In maya fluids this happens when the velocity is higher than the densitys/sim steps ability to fill-in in between. It can also be from render interpolation. Do I need more substeps or can I fix this in render? or is there another way to get a smoother sim?

  License Server Transfer
Posted by: radobe - 10-07-2013, 08:48 AM - Forum: FumeFX [maya] - Replies (2)

We have to move the license to another machine. How can i deinstall the licenses on my machine and move it to the server? I could not find an option to deinstall already installed licenses.

  lighting?
Posted by: davidSchoneveld - 10-04-2013, 05:40 PM - Forum: FumeFX [maya] - Replies (4)

Whatever I do I can't get maya lights to work on the fume volume. It will never light or self shadow, but it will cast a shadow. What am I doing wrong? Maya 2014.

simple test:

new scene
create fume w/ simple source
create poly plane, scale it up
sim (48 frames by default)
mental ray >features> auto volume on
create spot light (use ray traced shadows on by default)
uncheck do fire
cast shadows (check)
receive shadows (check)
opacity to 5 (just to make sure there is enough density to catch the light)
render

what am I missing? I don't see another place to enable lights

  Framerate Bug
Posted by: radobe - 10-04-2013, 08:07 AM - Forum: FumeFX [maya] - Replies (5)

It seems that just 24 fps are supported right now.
If i simulate with 25 fps and try to render at 25 fps i get 2 identical frames about every 24 frames. When i change the settings to 24 fps everything is fine.

Maya 2013 sp2
Windows 7 Pro 64
Dual Intel Xeon E5-2640

error when copying fumefx box and emiters
Posted by: Eric-S - 10-02-2013, 08:29 PM - Forum: FumeFX [maya] - Replies (3)

Hi,

when copy/pasting any fumefx emiters... the copies loses the object that was attached.
When we are duplicating the fumefx box with his emiter. The fumefx box cannot connect with the duplicated emiters and gives us an error :

thanks,
Eric
