FumeFx and passes...
#1
Hy everyone,
I'm playing with FumeFx for e week and I got several questions.
1- I'm a Vray user, and I would like to know if there is a way to get the velocity pass of the fluid.
2- I'm doing a simulation with a fluid emitting fire from an object.
With the 3dsmax scanline rendering, I canget velocity, Zdepth, etc on a rendered image of 512x389.
Often, at 1536x1167, the velocity and the zdeth passes have a lot of black points (artefacts).
Often at 2048x1556, the two passes are black.
So I can't get image motion blur.
Why ?
3- Does the scene units change the simulation time (inches, centimeters, meters,...)?
I've two or three shots at a 2K image size, and simulations are very, very long to get details. My objetcs is emitting from a map and I plan to emit particles... so any tip to speed up my simulations are welcome.

Thx.

Hello,

1. If you are looking into FumeFX velocity Render Element, then I can confirm that in version 1.0, it does not exists even for Scanline.

2. I did try to reporo this bug (2048x1536), but all channels were present and rendered correctly. I have a machine with 3Gb or RAM. Can you please give us your machine details?
If possible, please send us a scene and fxd file that renders with artifacts.

3. A major parameter for adjusting simulation detail is Grid Spacing. By changing this parameter, a "Size" field is automatically updated. "Size" tell you how many voxels will be when grid expands to its maximum boundaries. We consider a grid of 300x300x300 voxels to be a quite detailed one.

Hi, and thank you.

My specs are two AMD DualCore Opteron 2.2Ghz and 3 Go of ram running on Windows XP SP2. I'm using 3dsmax8 SP3.
I'm looking for the velocity pass from the scanline renderer (render element > velocity).

I can send you the scene, but the fxd size is 250 Mo and I got 100 files (for 100 frames).
What do you need exeactely ? Only one fxd file ? Do you got an ftp adress ? If yes please PM me.

Another question, when I send a backburner render on a single calculator, the render is fine (I got my fire on the color pass). The same scene launched on two computer result in no fire at all, only my emission object is rendered.

Hello,

Luckily, we got a smaller files from another tester for a test and we're looking into it. I will let you know what we find out.
