VDB to fume channel mapping
#1
hi
I have a VDB with wavelet data , how can I map these to Fume channels when loading the VDB into fume?
I can see smoke, velocity , color, but no wavelet options.

Also , when using WSM bend as render warp, the "bent" grid seems to lose detail, is fumefx "blurring/smoothing" the input while performing the "bend".
I expected a little loss, but it seems quite a lot

thanks

Hello Harv,

Yes, 3rd party wavelet data is not supported as each app probably has its own way of computing and storing the wavelet information.
Bend would introduce smoothing, but the visibility of it depends on the grid detail.
Do you maybe have some images for comparision ?

thanks

Hi Kresimir

here are some images for the bend "smoothing" i was on about, is this the level of blurring i should expect when using render warps?

BTW , this is bending a VDB from Phoenix FD

thanks

u can see the detail loss better in these

Thanks

Hello,

This looks like expected blur - it's enevitable to occur due to sampling of the grid.

Thanks for sharing images.

Hi

Thanks, although it's unfortunate the level of blur applied
