Reusing the cache in scene
#1
Is there an easy way to reuse/duplicate the cache in a scene and then offset it per instance.
For example, having 10 candles in a scene and simulating only one, then simply reusing and transforming the cache on a different instance.

Just to be clear, I am not asking about simply duplicating the fumefx box with inputs, but a cleaner way to simply load the data without the source present.

Hi,

you can always create new FumeFX node in scene and set paths to some existing ones created by some other FumeFX box.

That way you can have multiple boxes with same caches, but only first one needs sources and needs to be simulated.

Thanks

Is there a specific drop down menuu that needs to be set in terms of default vs post for the cache and sim setting?

Hi,

if you created new box which reuses already simulated caches, there is no need to change sim settings.

On box which reuses caches you can select which type of caches to render using that box (Default, Wavelet, or Post) from drop-down menu in Maya Attribute Editor. This attribute is labeled 'Cache'.
