Fume FX for Maya 2015 Crashes Maya
#1
I am running Fume Fx for Maya 2015 sp2. Whenever I try to open the preview window in gpu mode maya crashes immediately. This is fine in Maya 2014 so I don't suspect the gpu. It works in cpu mode. Please help.

I wanted to know this answer, I also came here.
I'm the same state.
I also think GPU is bad.
I have been using the GTX660.

Hello,

One of the customers have solved this issue by updating the video card drivers to the latest version.

I hope this helps.

Maya 2015 still crashes with FumeFx for Maya 2015 when using GPU preview. I have most updated Nvidia gpu drivers version 337.88. My gpu is GTX-780ti. I am on an i7 window 8.1. Maya 2015 sp2. Please help.

Please note that FumeFx gpu preview works fine with Maya 2014 using the same gpu card.

Hi,
I might have found a solution to GPU Preview crashes on some machines.

On some machines with nVidia graphic cards, Mesa 3D OpenGL drivers can mess up
your nVidia OpenGL drivers. This may cause Maya, or FumeFX GPU Preview window
inside Maya to crash.

Here is an example how to remove Mesa 3D OpenGL drivers from you system.
This Eyample is writen for Fedora Linux OS. If you use some other Linux
distribution, ask your system administrator to translate those commands for your
Linux distribution.

Example below will work only if you have nVidia graphic card, and you use some
other OpenGL drivers for your graphic card (eg. xorg-x11-drv-nvidia). For
example a system may contain /usr/lib64/nvidia/libGL.so.1 provided by
xorg-x11-drv-nvidia package. Execute commands below as root.

1) Search for OpenGL mesa libraries installed on your computer using command:
Code:
rpm -qa --pipe "fgrep mesa"

Example output:
[code]mesa-libGLw-devel-6.5.1-8.fc12.x86_64
mesa-libOSMesa-7.9-5.fc14.x86_64
mesa-libGL-7.9-5.fc14.x86_64

That's great if you are on a Linux machine, but am having the same problem and I am on a windows 8.2 machine. Any help there? See my earlier post.
