maximum thread is 16??
#1
Hi, i've just noticed that the maximum threads you can use for FumeFX is 16CPUs.
(i could not set more than 16 in preference...)

Is there any way to increase the amount of thread??

Im using FumeFX1.2e..and I'm afraid that we could not upgrade to 2.0 due to Krakatoa and TP is not supported 2.0 yet....lol

Cheers!!

Hello,

We have TP 4 support files done and Krakatoa should be fine soon as well.
In FumeFX 2.0, you won't have thread limit issues.

Yep, we've got a pc server on windows 2008 server , quad-octo-hyperthread, 64 GB RAM, but fumefx didn't use all of the thread :H

We change the preference of the Multithreading with "use all CPU's" or to put directly 64 Threads.

48 threads is now set as a top limit, but with more cores you won't see any improvements. A good I7 950 system is still hard to beat in performance vs. price.

Yep sure, at the end, we launch 2 simulations on the server, no thread lost Smile

But at the end of the simulation with Backburner, he make the simulation well, but at the end, he crash with mentalray for the 16 thread maximum. That's strange because I use scanline render :STABRE

So, you have set Scanline as renderer for a BB sim, but mental ray crahses ?
Not sure that I understand what happens :U

I am using pure 48 core machine. AMD
12Cores x 4 , 64G memory

It doesn't use more than 60% neither.

Could you fix it to use 48 all ? Hope you can clear this soon ^^

Hello Jacky,

It uses, but speed does not scales 100% with increased number of cores.
