I have the same problem, now with version 3.5.5 in maya 2013. Has this bug ever been fixed?
My original post follows below:
"The particle cache in the solver tab, doesn't work.
I have a problem with caching my Particles in Maya, when they are using FumeFX for emission and FollowField.
Either it doesn't cache any particles (Files are 1 kb), or it only cache particles in a small area, based on the location of my particles on my current frame.
I am able to "scrub" through the timeline frame by frame, and it looks fine.
I can also render a single frame with particles, but it doesn't render the particles in a batch render. - I was thinking this is connected with the cache problem
This whole thing is a bit frustrating, so I was wondering if any of you have any experience with this type of behaviour."
