Is vray GI working with fumefx?
#1
Heyho,

how can I render smoke WITH GI in my scene (vray 2.45.01, maya 2014).

Default container (simple source), fuel switched off. directional light.

render settings -> smoke -> cast and receive shadows checked
-> ambient color black

Illumination -> mult 4

multi scatter -> smoke strength 0.1

so far so good

Switch on GI (primary: irr map/sec.: light cache)

Now the smoke looks very dark.

render settings -> smoke -> gi mult 999 -> smoke stays the same dark color
putting a value of 20 into the color of the smoke -> smoke stays the same dark color
rising the illumination map mult to 40 -> smoke stays the same dark color
multi scatter smoke strength to 20 -> smoke stays the same dark color

When I render the same thing with mray and final gather the color of the smoke stays
more or less the same, just the shadows get lighter as expected to bouncing light.

Can someone please help me? What am I doing wrong?

Cheers

Rico
