maya nparticle follow not following Nsim

I have one master grid where my sim starts and two child grids setup as Nsim on either side of the mastergrid. the sim runs and caches fine but when i come to do a particle follow the particles only go as far as the master and then collect at the extent of the grid.

Is there a way for me to allow the particles to carry on following the velocity of the sim through all nsim grids?
