Max 2011 -scene explorer- SL simulation (via Muster)

In Max 2011 under Tools> we now have a feature called the 'Scene Explorer' (New, Manage, Saved) which upon using persists in the scene (like an object).

Apparently SL simming seems to be effected by its presence in the scene (but rendering is fine from testing). Sims are assigned to a machine but *never* start. Meanwhile simming localy from the UI is fine.

So if you use scene explorer and save the scene-its there from now on. But you can delete it (under Manage) save the scene again and now the SL sim works.

There was an issue like this when the ViewCube was introduced in Max 2009 (that’s why we used 2009 sp1 up till now). But that one effected both sims and renders.

So I am wondering if its an Autodesk bug (again)? Or possibly the SL stand alone doesn't understand these scene explorer 'objects'?
EDIT: using FumeFX 2.1c 64 bit BTW.
