It would be very interesting to see such a comparison. I was a 3ds max guy for years, and back then it was Particle Flow, which I really liked. Tyson Ibele was just starting to show off a few little tricks back in those days.
Most of the particle work that I do is to replicate real phenomena, so dynamics is important, but so is scope. I like XP alot, but I have had it bite me in the a** during critical phases of a few projects. There is a limit to the complexity that XP can handle, it seems. That said, Insydium are great people, and always very helpful.
XP is great for the abstract stuff, but that is not really what I do...
