Foam question/wish
#1
Hi,

is it possible to split the foam from waves and the foam from dynamics within the Foam Map?

Reason being, it would be preferable to have individual control over the density map for the two foam maps. The wake map would probably want a more directional map so the density flows (or fakes it) in the direction of the wake.

If it's not possible, I guess the workaround would be to only have foam map render the wave foam, but use the pre-calced wake foam comped on top within the material.

The downside is it might be a bit tricky matching it exactly if the boats not just moving in a straight line.

Cheers

I have put this to a wish list.
Thanks for your input.

Hi,

One other thing springs to mind.

It would be useful to be able to completely isolate the foam from indivdual objects within the foam map.

Say, for example you had multiple boats, or barrels dropping into the water. you would probably want a density map for each.

I guess at the moment the solution is to have multiple dynamics daemons, one for each object, and generate wakes separately for each one, although this would get unwieldy if you had lots of objects (say a boat exploding with parts landing in the water)

I'm not sure what the best solution is, maybe write out a layered PSD file with a layer per object, that the foam map can separate out and have density maps for each object.

Thanks,

Steve
