subsurface net render fails - aldred2 - 05-17-2005 Hi I'm having big problems with subsurface. The scene renders fine locally, but net rendering gives me the subsurface only on frame 1. Subsequent frames are rendered as if subsurface is not present. Am I missing a setting? Or could this be a bug? I'm rendering with FinalRender. I just tried rendering from a different frame. For example, if I render frames 50 and 51, 50 is ok but there's no subsurface in 51. It's the same for both the Simple and Physically Based models. Thanks Mark max7 SP1 PS There's some problem with the forum. I've tried to resign twice, but I always get a mailer error. It won't post me my password either. - aldred2 - 05-18-2005 Ok. The source of the problem is the DS SeaSurface. I have one in the scene but it's hidden. Instead I'm using a regular plane with a noise bump applied. If I do these steps, the net render goes fine .... -- open file -- unhide DS SeaSurface -- half render a frame locally -- hide the SeaSurface -- start the net render If I just open the file and start the net render, SubSurface is only rendered in the first frame. Seems like a bug. mark - sitnisati - 05-18-2005 If you render SubSurface without SeaSurface, unpredicted results can occur - especially when you're using SubSurface with adaptive SeaSurface. Kresimir - aldred2 - 05-19-2005 So it's best to think of them as a set then. Thanks. Mark - sitnisati - 05-24-2005 Yes, that is correct. SubSurface can seek for SeaSurface to determine what is above and what is under the water. Regards, Kresimir |
