adaptive are not following anymore

Hi,
I''ve been doing a small simulation with particles, everything was fine, but the adaptive grid does not follow the particles any more after a certain moment.
is there a reason why this stops suddenly? it worked fine before on an other scene...

I went to the member's area and got the Max 2012 files for Dreamscape but don't see a download link for AfterFLICS.exe,
the only reference says this is not for the regular workstation, so what am I looking for?

Largest possible grid size / Possible cause for FFX to crash

Hi, this is a rather general question, how to determine the maximum possible grid size for a workstation can handle? is it suffice just to read the memory requirement shown in the UI?
I ask because I have a few crash in the middle of a rather high rez sim (~800) and I am not sure what the cause is. The simulation itself is very simple, just an object emitting fuel/smoke and let FFX do the rest. No sudden change of object speed whatsoever.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.

noise parameter inside particleSourceEmitter ??

Hi,
I normally get "mushroom-sphere-like-smoke" when first emitted from particle source emitter.
There's some way you can avoid getting this, these are;
*using particle flow mesh with noise deformer (thus objectSourceEmission)(suitable for procedual emission via pflow/TP).
*key-animating built-in turbulence parameter hight to low (not suitable for procedual emission)
*preparing a initial stated container with some turbulence speed added (not to be a vacuum) (not suitable for procedual emission as well)
I'm just wondering, is there any ways to avoid getting this, just using particle source?
Or..
It is helpful that if particle source emitter has "noise parameter" like afterburn has.
Is there any chance you can include this for next release of FumeFX?
cheers.

Max 2011 -scene explorer- SL simulation (via Muster)

In Max 2011 under Tools> we now have a feature called the 'Scene Explorer' (New, Manage, Saved) which upon using persists in the scene (like an object).
Apparently SL simming seems to be effected by its presence in the scene (but rendering is fine from testing). Sims are assigned to a machine but *never* start. Meanwhile simming localy from the UI is fine.
So if you use scene explorer and save the scene-its there from now on. But you can delete it (under Manage) save the scene again and now the SL sim works.
There was an issue like this when the ViewCube was introduced in Max 2009 (that’s why we used 2009 sp1 up till now). But that one effected both sims and renders.
So I am wondering if its an Autodesk bug (again)? Or possibly the SL stand alone doesn't understand these scene explorer 'objects'?
EDIT: using FumeFX 2.1c 64 bit BTW.

Hi there!
I have one hardcore scene, done with FumeFX 2.1c and I have five (or more) very powerfull machines...Is there any solution to simulate my scene on this farm, using FFX?
I know, that FFX allow to submit one sim job on the one machine using Backburner mode and FFX SL...
One my coworker told me, that he can run FFX sim on one computer, which added resources of others computers to own resources and all works fine usinf Backburner and FFX SL....is it joke???
I understand, that, logically, I can't simulate some frames on the farm, couse each frame simulated one by one, step by step! BUT!!! When ALL farm simulate ONE frame....it's sounds good )))
Regards
Vasiliy

I’ve got a weird one. The same file gets completely different results on two identical machines.
This is a fire sim at frame 25. The correct behavior can be seen in image 1 (machine1.jpg). The fire is expanding.
The bad behavior is in image 2 (machine2.jpg). The fire is not expanding.
*Both machines are identical (Xeon 5450s CPU @ 3.0)
*File is unmodified, just opened on both machines, and run.
Halp. Can anyone think of ANY setting that would cause this? Has anyone run into this before?
This is fume 2.1b.

I had assumed for a long time that DS has no support for Mental Ray. But the DS Sun has MR rollouts when you go to the modify panel after making them... so I was curious if there is some MR support? I certainly haven't gotten DS to render with MR.
I have some landcape scenes that need rendered... and using MR would be a lot better than scanline because of the foilage... It would be nice to have MR support soon.

Running the function ($.ContinueSimulation 1) brings up a dialog and asks if you want to continue. Is there a way to automate this without resorting to DialogMonitorOPS? If not it would be nice to have the option
