Upwards Burn
#1
Greetings!

Does anyone know of a way to create fire that slowly burns up a source object, without having the source object start out completely on fire?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

you can use maps to place fuel and heat...

You'll have to excuse my ignorance. I was sort of thrown on a project at the last minute with a quickly approaching deadline. Unfortunately, I wasn't given much time to mess around and learn all the in's and out's of FumeFX.

I ran through a couple of the video tutorials, but they all seem to just tell you what values to enter where, without really explaining why or how they affect the simulation.

I haven't really explored using mapping for the fuel/fire. Is it possible to pass fire on from one source object to another? Like if I had a separate source object that was on fire below the other source object, would the fire pass from one to the other?

Hello,

In front of map is a button, which is [Disabled]. Click on it and choose 'Source from Intensity'.
Now you can pick a map for the fuel emission and animate it.

That is the fastest way how you can make it to rise (you could also write some expression).

Ahh, thanks Kresimir.

I saw the map option for the fuel emission, but haven't tried animating it. I'll check it out.

Thanks again.
