dem data spikes - aldred2 - 01-25-2006 Hi I'm trying to get data from the USGS Seamless Data Distribution into Dreamscape. I can download a GeoTiff file and then output DEM via the 3DEM freeware programme. The trouble is, when I import as a terrain, I get several spikes where pixels must have enormous values. Another problem is that the map appears to be right/left flipped. I realise these probably aren't Dreamscape problems, but can anybody suggest how to fix them? I've tried going via Terragen, but the data values seem to change and I lose accurate sea level. thanks mark - kjellve - 02-03-2006 Try polytrans, for the DEM import to max, and apply a terra material then... But this does not help if you want the terra editor ![]() Kjell A Offshore Simulator Centre - aldred2 - 02-03-2006 Thanks. In the end I went through 3DEM using *.ter, not DEM. That seemed to mess up my sea level (that was perfect with the DEM), but didn't give me spikes. Ideally, there'd be a utility for me to go in and edit the DEM data, identify the spikes and get rid of them. Then again, there also seemed to be problems with incorrect elevation values with DEM through 3DEM, so maybe I'm better off with a different route. I don't have Polytrans unfortunately. thanks mark - kjellve - 02-03-2006 There should be a Demo version of OKINO polytrans exporter.... do you have any tips on applying texture on the land? ready for export....can't use advanced materials for realtime export... Kjell A - aldred2 - 02-03-2006 I'll take a look. Thanks. What kind of thing are you trying to export? You should be able to use RenderToTexture. Might have to set as mesh first. mark |
