Load initial state - Guest - 01-19-2007

Hi,
Anyone can give me some explanations about the utility of this function.
I have doen a sim from frame 0 to frame 30 (30 fxd).
I have set my cache to another directory, and loaded as initial state the fxd from frame 29.
When I press "Start simulation with loaded initial state", the simulation restart at frame 0 with a new generation of voxel.
I taught that I should see my voxels of the 29th frame from my first simulation in frame 0....
I don't get it.

Sorry, I wasn't logged.

Normaly (afaik), you sprecify in the Fume-preferences every n-th Frame as Snapshot (this is off by default). So, set Snampshot to every 30th frame -> run Sim from 0 to 30, then "Load initial State" and pick the Snapshot (is called something like "FumeFX01_030.FDC") of frame 30.
To start you Sim with that State, you have to click the "SimFromLoadedState"-Button, not the Standard "Simulate"-Button.

Thank you.
I'll try that.

Hi,
using the "Start from initial state" simulation will start from the same frame it usually starts. Only it won't be blank at start, it will load anything it can (smoke, velocity etc) from the initial state file. So in your case, you must set the start frame to be 30.
Also, initial state file must have the same grid resolution as the simulation you want to run with it.
If you still do not have anything loaded when you start sim from i.s., you could post in more detail what you do after first 30 frames.
Hope this helps!
