hello,
after updating to update 3, I guess there is a newer arnold version coming with it..
the render shows up black/empty again..
do I need to revert to an older arnold version, or will the shaders be updated?

I would recommend you to use vdb, since mtoa is updating from day to day...

We have tested FumeFX 4.1 and mtoa 1.4.1.2 under Maya 2017 update3 and saw no issues.
Please make sure that you have those builds of FumeFX and mtoa.
