extremely long scene preprocessing... - peterhartwig - 03-05-2016 Hey I think i might be doing something wrong, or should optimize my system in some way... Loading and saving caches take longer than sim and actual render times. I'm getting about 4% cpu usage for a few minutes when rendering, and then it renders fine. I've tried with both arnold and vray. The same thing in reverse when simulating large grids. Pretty fast sim time, but then it hangs for minutes saving. I'm using field3d with gzip. Any ideas what i can do to speed it up? Sincerely Peter Re: extremely long scene preprocessing... - sitnisati - 03-08-2016 Hello Peter, It is impossible to say without knowing your details about your system setup. Regards, Kresimir Tkalcec Re: extremely long scene preprocessing... - peterhartwig - 03-08-2016 Hey, ok, let me shed some light on that ![]() dual 10 core 3.1 ghz xeon 128gb ram sims stored to SAS12 raid (1.1 gb/sec) running windows 10 maya 2016 Re: extremely long scene preprocessing... - sitnisati - 03-08-2016 Hello, All plugins and caches are located on a local hard drive ? Regards, Kresimir Tkalec Re: extremely long scene preprocessing... - peterhartwig - 03-08-2016 yup. Re: extremely long scene preprocessing... - sitnisati - 03-14-2016 I'm sorry - I have missed information from your first post where you say that you use f3d and gzip. gzip is very slow ineed (as any other compression program is). Unless you don't need to use FumeFX caches in another app, .fxd is the fastest way to store data. Regards, Kresimir Tkalcec Re: extremely long scene preprocessing... - peterhartwig - 03-14-2016 wicked, got it, thanks! Re: extremely long scene preprocessing... - sitnisati - 03-21-2016 You're welcome. Regards, Kresimir Tkalcec |
