Render time problem - petkovic - 12-14-2013 Hi everybody, I have a serious problem with rendertime when i turn on the Use Maya Volume Sampling, So i was wondering is there a workaround for this problem? How can i matte object? Dont want to be rude but we are entering the production and we are facing a serious problem with this rendertime... I also did some test in 3ds Max, with same/similar scene and I didnt notice any problems there, with rendertime. I have also attached the scene, its very simple scene, just Hit simulate and try to render frames at the end of the sequence with Use Maya Volume Sampling and without Use Maya Volume Sampling (warning: last frame could even render ~1h !!!) so be carefull best regards p.s. compare images: No Vol Sampling (38sec) ![]() With Vol Sampling (~4.5min)
Re: Render time problem - sitnisati - 01-09-2014 Hello, FumeFX 3.5.2 for Maya is rendering the same image here in both cases. As for the speed, you can always try to reduce the Samples Multiplier parameter. Regards, Kresimir Tkalcec Re: Render time problem - petkovic - 01-09-2014 I see, i used default values, so it seems they are too high ![]() thx for reply Kresimir Re: Render time problem - redpawfx - 01-09-2014 Petkovic, I'm fairly certain this is the way it works, Kresimir can elaborate more if they've made any changes since that feature was added, Normally with the default fume rendering the samples is a percentage of the voxel size, so for example while tracing thru the fume volume, at the default 50% value fume will substep distance wise, once in that voxel to create 2 samples. with maya volume sampling turned on, maya controls the step distances and then fume multiplies on top of those by its own substeps. so a good starting point to get a 1-1 of what maya is supplying for samples is 100 % or one sample per voxel. Mayas volume samples is an absolute value of number of samples it will take to get thru the volume shape.. so for example you will get a consistent steppy look at 25 maya volume samples, even if you crank your fume step size down to 5% and it will just take longer.. so once in maya volume sample land, just set your step sizes to approx 100% and only really tweak the maya volume samples to get your desired sampling quality. -johnc Re: Render time problem - petkovic - 01-10-2014 Thx john, for detail explaining, i must say its much more clear now best regards |
