Too much haze! - Dionisio - 05-16-2006 Hi all, We work 80% for the architecture industry and I use Dreamscape for a long time now but I have only one problem I've never resolved. The haze effect in the scene is too much, when I have an architecture which distance 100 m from the camera I already see the haze which influence the colours (light blue) and luminosity of the architecture's lighting. Usually the haze effect during a shiny clear day starts much further... Even is I set the haze density at a very low number the effect is less but still there. How is possible to set the haze more distant in the scene? Unfortunately the 3ds max's camera atmosphere ranges don't work with Dreamscape... Do you have any tip for this? We use 3ds max 8 + FR stage-1 SP3a Thanks in advance for your help. Dionissios Tsangaropoulos Delta Tracing - hometime - 05-17-2006 Dionisio, Is it safe to assume you are using real world units? - Dionisio - 05-17-2006 Thanks for answering. We always work in real world units: System Unit Setup > Inches Display Unit Setup > Meters We always suggest, (I am an EMEA Autodesk Authorised Consultant for 3ds max), to set the System Units in Inches and display everything in meters. 3ds max works better! ;-) Thanks, Dionisio - - hometime - 05-17-2006 The only possibilities I see are with the haze options, but I don't know that they can be tweaked to your satisfaction. I set up a quick scene with 30m x 30m x 100m blocks on a 1000m slab at 200m apart, but cannot be sure of what exactly you are seeing nor whether I feel I could make any difference. Can you post an image and maybe scene file that can point out the exact issue for an example? - Dionisio - 05-17-2006 Yes sure. Just give me a 5 minutes and I'll post an example. Thanks, Dionisio - - Dionisio - 05-17-2006 Here is an example which shows the problem. I can imagine and accept this kind of result but bigger is the scene more is the haze!?!? The example has a base of 70mx70m, when I scaled it to 20mx20m the haze problem disappeared!!! :? http://www.deltatracing.com/3D_Images/Dreamscape.jpg thanks in advance, Dionisio - - hometime - 05-18-2006 This is fairly subtle to me, but you have a more refined eye. Have you tried lowering the daylight amount? - Dionisio - 05-18-2006 >> Have you tried lowering the daylight amount? I am not using Dreamscape's render engine, it's finalrender's one. I know, the example doesn't reppresent exactly the problem, in some scenes the effect is almost double!!! Thanks, Dionisio - - hometime - 05-19-2006 Ok, I will continue... Are you using fR GI? How about the color of the GI sky, does that correspond to the over saturation of color? Are you using fR materials? Think I'm barking up the wrong tree?
- Dionisio - 05-19-2006 Yes, you got it! We use all the elements you mentioned in your post. Yesterday CEBAS released another service pack for FR and they include the Gamma Colour Mapping, I'll try it and hope to resolve!!! Maybe the exponentioal colour mapping creates this kind of effect... Who knows... Thanks! Dionisio - - hometime - 05-19-2006 Let us know how it goes! 8)
