slow loading of ffx data
#1
Hey,

I'm rendering out a very high detailed sim (as needs be) but after a while it takes an astonishingly long time to load a frame of ffx data .

Each frame is around 1.5gb (apart from earlier in the solve) but while loading the data the ram usage according to the task manager picks up and drops (like sawtooth visually) . At the moment each frame is taking in excess of 8 minutes to load before the render actually starts to happen .

The sequence is 100 frames, but gets stuck at the 50f mark, at which point it has already read at least 30 frames all well over 1gb in size .

My system should be up for this task, it is a Core i7 2.79ghz with 12gb ram . At time of rendering the system ram usage reached under 5gb from 3gb before committing render . However the physical memory used according to max increases but never seems to drop unlike what the resource monitor in windows vista is reporting . The drive it is reading the data is a pretty decent sata2 .

Any ideas where I'm going wrong ? Would a faster HDD, or even a solid state one even help?

Thanks

Hello,

Is that the same system where simulation was done?
If so, then there should be no problems rendering scene.
