Getting Backburner Rendering working.
#1
Sorry if this is a common question. Have been looking around for the answer. I just got fumefx and would like to render with it over the network. I have a common directory on the server for plugins that I placed all the files from FumeFX. However when I render I still get the error that the plugins cannot be found. Is there something else that needs to be done?

Hello,

Did you alter a plugin.ini and appended all paths ?
Also make sure to copy TSregisternow.dll and AWutils.dll (Fume FX 1.2) from 3ds max root folder.

Hmm... Still not working.

Okay here's what I've got.

here's the networked paths

Networked Plugins=T:\3DS Max 9\plugins\
FumeFX=T:\3DS Max 9\plugins\AfterWorks\
FumeFX2=T:\3DS Max 9\plugins\AfterWorks\Common\
FumeFX3=T:\3DS Max 9\plugins\AfterWorks\FumeFX\

I put the TSregisternow.dll and AWutils.dll into the T:\3DS Max 9\plugins\ directory.

When I attempt to load max I get the error.

DLL failed to initialize. Error code: 126 - The specified module could not be found.

When I attempt to network render it says it can't find the plugins.

It looks like it is finding them, but its erroring on the load.

help?

The TSregisternow.dll and AWutils.dll need to be in the T:\3DS Max 9\ directory.

T:\3DS Max 9\??

Are you saying that I need a new plugin directory because the paths are relative?

or

Are you saying they need to be in the root install folder and therefore need to be present on each machine?

Ok success I was able to get it to work by copying those two files into the install folder of one of the slaves. Is this the only way to get this to work? It'd be much more convient to have those files in a networked place that all the machines could access.
