Hey,
Can I get some help with Fume and VRAY. I cannot make the fire render. I have GI turned on in VRAY as I am using the same settings I use for arch viz rendering. I have tried and VRAY cam and a standard, with sun and with direct lights. I have had the vray mulitplier turned up to 50 for fire and smoke but I still see nothing.
Can anyone suggest what I can do or even screen shot the settings I must be missing.
Thanks heaps.
its such a general statement that i would suggest you to share a simple scene with a simple grid with a source in it that you see not rendering on your side ..
its easier to take a look at ..

yeh I attached a 126kb .max file before I headed out. I was a simple box emitter in a base grid with the exact vray settings and lighting in place.
Not sure why it didn't upload.
When I am back tomorrow I will bung it back on the post to see what anyone thinks.

here is a basic sample with the standard lighting setup I use for external renders.
sphere to show GI is on.. nothing rendering!
weird!!

Hi Steve,
Your scene is just missing the fusionworks renderer. IIRC this normally gets added automatically so it either failed to for some reason in your scene or it got accidentally deleted.
To fix it just bring up the main max Environment and Effects panel (Render->Environment on the main menu) go to the Atmosphere section and add the "FusionWorks Renderer" effect.
I'm using FFX 1.2 under max 2009 and with that change the effects renders fine.

Oh and the lighting isn't working very well so the fire renders black. You're using a vray sun/sky setup and it doesn't look like FFX is generating colors in same range. Switching to a regular lighting setup works fine. Someone else might know of a way to get FFX to work in conjunction with the vray sun/sky, but I've never done it myself.
Cheers, really appreciate the help. I will make that a standard check item when I am compiling a scene to ensure the renderer is there.
Thanks
S.
