Will there be a 64bit version?

Thanks

Hi,

there already is - in fact you can get more out of it because you can address more memory.

Still on 32bit here, until I can afford to upgrade my renderfarm as well. But a 32bit and 64bit version is listed in the files section when you buy FumeFX.

Hi all

Thanks for the info. One more thing, having not been completely satisfied with the fire look I’ve been doing with Afterburn (perhaps the problem is really between my chair and the keyboard!) I have been considering buying Phoenix. Does anyone have any experience with this plugin and does FumeFX go the extra distance in realism?

Thanks again!

FFx will do anything called fire ..

ur "distance" word is worriing a bit in a CFD .. Its a grid , ull need ram and a really solid setup (lots of iterations) to get a Long distance fire ( dragon spitting over 2 miles ) in FFX ..

but when their is No Big Distance in question , Fume is ur Tool for real 3d Volumetric Fire and smoke..

I used Phoenix ages ago - but I never managed to get that good results out of it - I managed to get much better results from FFX within a short time.

Phoenix is pretty ancient now anyway, Chaos Group were/are working on Aura to replace it, but that has been quiet for a while.

Cheers

theres NO tool.... seriously NO OTHER TOOL at this present moment ON THE MARKET, that will provide extreme realistic fire and smoke effects like fumefx does.

phoenix is nothing but a volumetric effect, it never simulates realisticly. just like afterburn. those tools give u nice results, and if handled professionally bring u certain effects that are absolutely perfect, if the fluid movement of gasuoes effects like fire and smoke are not that necessary. like superhuge pyroclustic clouds from a vulcano, or fine mist. its just too much fake to artisticly bring the quality to persist a comparison with real footage.

but if it comes to see fire in a closeup, or even much bigger effects, where the fluid nature is clearly needed, cfd is the only way today to meet the needs of realisticly looking visual effects.

agree with Roman power Smile .. trust me , we know what FFx can do .. hehe

I remember the words of Allan Mckay long time ago telling me that a Fluids System Isnt at all the same world as particles puffs or texture animated ( phoenix , Ab , Pyro etc..) and its true .. the result will be amazing when u get the tweeks of how to work with a cfd , and it will not be beatable from any non Fluids method but it does take a learning curve and experience mainly will make the difference Smile ( in aura , Flowline , Flood , realflow , Fume , Maya fluids , Houdini 9 fluids , or any other fluid system it will be the same storry ) , its just a question of whos solver will be the most user friendly and how powerfull its otimized and build for production users.. Fume Is build from productions for productions so its ready to takle any serius user that have the will to push it and it will give those user something they never felt before Anywhere in their viewport Wink ( and their renders heheh)

Thank you very much everyone. Very informative. The problem for me was in fact getting good results for fire up close. Looks like Fume is the way to go. Its always good to get an informed opinion before buying.
