Idle Time in between Frames
#1
Hi,

During sim, after the "Advect Fields done" i am getting quite long what appears to be "idle time" on the cpu. Is that expected behavior? the sim frames are about 800 mb each written to an ssd so i guess its not the writing to disk that takes time. Quite long means up to 30 sec.

cheers for any hints

Sure_here you go -

my espresso changed a tad from yesterday but i guess it won´t matter much.
The parts of the car are from a commercial model please use for testing only.
The ziped file is about 2,5 mb - getting a forum error message - File to big.
Is there a different way to upload it, or should i share it via db or google drive ?

cheers

Hello,

you can delete all unnecessary things in scene which are not related to FumeFX and upload it to google drive.
My email is kristijan@afterworks.com.

Thank you,

Hello,

thank you.

did you enable multithreading in FumeFX preferences window (plugins -> FumeFX -> Preferences -> Use all available CPUs)?

Best regards,

Hey,

Sure it is enabled - but it seems to be default as i never changed that.

Hello,

It seems to be working fine here, so maybe you can check if there is some virus scanner that scans the file or anything similar that can slow down the cache write ?
How about other scenes - do you see the same behavior on any FumeFX simulation?

Thank you.

Hi,

are you still experiencing long idle time on cpu during simulation?

Best regards,
Kristian
