FumeFX Crash on Sim
#1
When I adjust the detail parameter of turbulence noise and click sim I get a hard crash to desktop. If I keep it at one it will let me sim for a few frames before it crashes. I'm using the latest fumefx for 3dsmax 2016.

I have a simple particle source as my emitter. Is it possible The density is getting so high it crashes the sim?

Here's a copy of my scene:

Increasing the turbulence noise detail to 5 is guaranteed to crash for me, although it crashes randomly if left at 1.

Workaround: I turned off the fuel channel and now it doesn't crash.

Hello,

Thank you for report.
I have tried your scene with FumeFX 4.0.4, detail 5 and it crashed.
Next update will include this bug fix.

Hello,

You can simulate with fire, but you should set burn rate variation to 0.0.
This should make it work as well.

You're welcome.
Thank you for the fire tip - it made finding the bug a lot easier.

I have a similar problem. On sim start I get an error message and then max crashes. Interesting thing is that I already simed once the same thing. Sometimes it helped to delete old cache files. First I thought it was something wrong with me upping the resolution, but then I tried make it low, but it crashed also.

*edit* : it seems that if you (accidentaly) switched of the particle system in pflow for the fume sim it tends to crash.

Hello,

Thank you for the report.
Can you please post a simple scene that will crash on your system ?
We cannot reproduce that here.
