FumeFX Sims on farm with Particle Sources possible?
#1
It seems like it is not because the farm machines don't understand they have to wait for a particle sim *and then* do the FumeFX sim...so basically files never get generated. Its just gets stuck in limbo.

Same farm is fine with simple and object sources.

With a complex pflow - should it be able to work if you do a cache to file?
It doesn't although does anyone know how to get pflow to be a 'read only' (so playback only-no calculate?)

This has always been an issue as far as I know (tested with both Muster and Cube).

Any magic suggestions or could it be designed somehow? Its amazing how inconvenient it is
to only ever be able to sim from the UI (like doing overtime *just* so I can use other users machines - GRR!)

Hello,

Have you tried to network sim on your local workstation where you have a 3ds max license ?
It would be useful to know if that one works.

Thank you.

FYI this should be repro with any particle source and any scene.
I have never ever got it to work over the years.

But I am willing to test that.
Is it me or is that procedure not documented?
Is using the SLs doc'ed anywhere?

Howto?

Hello,

Using the FumeFX SL is described inside the FumeFX help file, Running simulation on 3ds Max slaves topic.

I did find the doc but its pretty understated.

Do I need to 'switch' the SL mode to test (thats whats implied)
Do I need to be admin to do that?
BTW we are not running BackBunner.
