ffx properties window
#1
it'd be great in future releases to get the ffx window to float no matter what you have selected, so I can select my spacewarps or collision objects and not have the ffx window close. is that doable? and if you have more than one I gues multiple windows or else click on the button in the modify panel to pop up the current one or something.

kinda annoying that it closes when you deselect your container Sad

and in future versions, a relationship editor would be sweet. so lets say I have four wheels with tire smoke burning off of them, and a car body, and another 4 wheels and car body, and I don't want to bother having the first car body interact with my fluids, but I do want to have them interact with the second car and vice versa. right now everything is either interacting or not, so being able to control what collides with what etc. would be sweet. like real flow.

I shoulda mentioned this months ago I guess Tongue

and in the obj/src tab be able to select multiple emitters and change the values for all of them at the same time. ie. select all your emitters and change the temperature etc.

+ motion inheritence for the emitters. Not physically correct however for heavier volumes such as dust etc. you do a big burn out in dust and want to fling the fumes in that direction more.

Hi Allan,

Thank you for your wishlist.
As the FumeFX is structured at the moment, relationship is not possible, but other wishes have been added on a to-do list.

ah thankyou you made my day Smile nice hotkey!
kinda been out of the loop with fume, been stuck in maya too much lately Sad

I have a huge vampire film coming up so lots of close up slow motion firey ashing effects, so although a majority of the film we'll be doing in Houdini, Im looking forward to FFX for all the slow motion vampires burning up passes Smile

PS. sub frame sampling would be nice too! I'm doing an uber crazy bullet time shot of a car doing a big burnout in front of the camera and needs to be very specific, and because the cars going so fast up until the bullet time slow down bit it doesn't sample enough to get the detail I need, it basically all skips out. having the ability to samply every half or quarter frame would be schweeeeeeett

u v got subframe by adding steps dude..

more steps u add more the velocity of the fluid is beeing devided and give a chance of full solver iteration per step ..

All my timewarp slow mo effects where done with multiple steps and iterations.. their is margen of improvement but what is their works like a charm..

U can go for 100 subsamples every iteration witch should be able to do a ballistic missille coming out of a submmarine perfectly

that indeed remind me of a bug that happend before that should have gotten fixed.. but it was a REally hard to reproduce behavior .. Can you please email

mailtoConfusedupport@afterworks.com with a scene ( simplest as possible) and some steps that are making you see that behavior ?

that will be Really usefull as it was a Waky one Wink

interesting.. i v had that one before and ari as well if i remember correctly.... whats ur resolution ?

can u afford to try 1600\1200 in ur viewport and restart max and see if it makes the same thing ? just a though..

thanks for the vid its pretty clear Smile

viewport display configuration could be good to know ( open gl or directx etc..) even though i doubt it s the cause..

Hello,

Does this happens on any other scene or only on this particular one?
If this is a scene specific, please send a scene as this is the first time we saw it.

Thank you!

Ive tried changing the viewport display conf, changed the resolution (default res is 1440*900), but no luck..Its not just a specific scene, its pretty mutch all the time.
I cant seem to alter, resize the FumeFX UI windows (thats the main prblm)..

Are you using Windows XP Pro 32 bit ?
I will check our code once again and possibly spot any bug that is not obvious on majority of systems.

Is it just me? do the ffx/preview windows have position memory?

Everytime I select the fume container the windows center on my display.
