Hi,
yeah you would just model it so the beach intersects the seasurface.
Bear in mind that Dreamscape doesn't really handle reflected waves from the land.
Cheers,
Steve
Ok, thx. This is going to be a still pic so lacking of reflected waves shouldn't be a problem. That might be a good addition for future builds though. But I would need some foam on the water line. Does DS create foam automaticly where land intersects water or are any tricks needed.
No, it won't create foam automatically, unless it's part of a dynamics simulation (like that used for a boat).
However since the coast is going to be big, you could just create a masking bitmap and a blend material - although it will be a fake.
If you're using bitmaps, it's best to use real-world scale in the map.
Cheers,
Steve
I am trying to make foam to the beach with dynamics. I am running out of memory all the time. My beach line is 197 meters long and is made of plane primitive. Then I tried to create the beach out of edit poly box but it's running again out of the memory. Even tried to drop the segments of my water to 30x30 but it ain't helping. What are the most critical options in dynamics simulation that are memory intensive and that could be optimized.

Hello,
Here is some info from a help file:
"Spacing - The Dynamics simulation is performed on a grid, where each cell is assumed to be one element of the water. Smaller spacing will produce smaller and more detailed waves than higher spacing. Smaller spacing will need more elements to be created over the same simulation grid, and thus more calculations will need to be performed.
Grid Size - Number of simulation grid elements (X elements x Y elements)."
You can try to increase spacing if your Grid Size is above 1000x1000.
However, Dynamics can create form only from object in dynamics simuation (boats, falling objects, etc..) and not from seasurface's procedural waves.
