fumefx 4.0.3 | GPU preview issue
#1
the GPU preview suddenly stopped showing the fluid..
if the GPU is turned off, it works.. GPU did work fine before with the same scene..

also noticed a small "bug", when making a preview it opens the video twice instead of once..
just a small thing, but I thought I'll mention it..

thx

Hello,

Thank you for the bug report.

If you create a new scene and run the simulation with GPU preview window open - would it show the smoke/fire ?
Did you maybe install/update video card drviers ?

must be something wrong with the scene..

Hello,

If you can strip the scene down to FumeFX grid and one .fxd cache file, we'll be glad to check what went wrong.

Thank you.

hello,

so it does happen again, it seems that after some time it just doesn't show in the GPU preview window.. normal preview works..

I also seem to have an issue in rendering, as I can't render fumefx in vray or arnold..
I'll reinistall everything, maybe this will resolve the issue(s)

thx

after reinstalling and gfx driver updates everything works fine for now..

but I do have an issue with rendering..
neither arnold or vray render the fumefx grid, it just renders black..
i have both shaders installed..

thx

Hello,

Please make sure that shader and renderer versions are compatible.
You can see requirement from the FumeFX shader installation dialog.

thank you for the answer, I've looked the versions up..
apperently for arnold I have a newer version (due to update 2 I guess)..

but for vray it should work, as I have 3.4 and thats the shader I installed..
the shader installation dialog?

thx

Hello,

Could you please chgeck what does the VRay shader outputs to the rendering window?
Any references to FumeFX?

Just to note that without shader license, you can only render from the Maya UI and not from the batch.

Thank you.

thx for the answer..
it did work with the maya batch render on the local machine, has this been changed?

I've checked it again, vray does render the scene but seems to completely ignore the fumefx volume.. (also in alpha)
there are no erros in the output window..

the same goes for arnold..
but arnold shows me, that it can load the fumefx shader..
vray output didn't show or error that..

am I missing something?

thx

Hello,

We have just released the FumeFX 4.1 for Maya update.
It supports the latest Arnold 4.2.16.1.
I suggest that you try the latest Arnold shader and the latest FumeFX.

Please let me know.

Thank you.

have the newest versions for fumefx, fume shaders and arnold..
don't get any errors, but unfortunately the renders are still black in vray and arnold..

seems like I'm missing something, but not sure what it is..

arnold started working..
only vray renders black, but I assume it has to do something with my version.. (as was the case with arnold)

I'll try to figure it out..

thank you

Hello,

Yes, for how it works, they have made Arnold pretty fast and the volumetric GI is just amazing.
It's our renderer of choice when it comes to FumeFX.

I totally agree.. first tests showed just an amazing speed and quality..
couldn't get those even with the vray volumegrid..
I guess only with the GPU would be faster Wink

thank you
