extremely long scene preprocessing...
#1
Hey

I think i might be doing something wrong, or should optimize my system in some way... Loading and saving caches take longer than sim and actual render times.
I'm getting about 4% cpu usage for a few minutes when rendering, and then it renders fine. I've tried with both arnold and vray. The same thing in reverse when simulating large grids. Pretty fast sim time, but then it hangs for minutes saving.
I'm using field3d with gzip.

Any ideas what i can do to speed it up?

Sincerely

Peter

Hello,

All plugins and caches are located on a local hard drive ?

I'm sorry - I have missed information from your first post where you say that you use f3d and gzip. gzip is very slow ineed (as any other compression program is).
Unless you don't need to use FumeFX caches in another app, .fxd is the fastest way to store data.
