About FFXVertexPaint - Jumpei.F - 09-07-2022

Hello.

I have a question about FFX Vertex Paint.
I am using FFX ver.5.1 and FFX Vertex Paint does not work well.
The FFX data synthesized from the sample scene in the following tutorial can simulate smoke as shown in the tutorial.

Attached is a test scene with FFX grid test1 synthesized from the sample and FFX grid test2 newly generated under the same conditions as the sample.
In test1, smoke can be generated from the vertex color as shown in the tutorial, but in test2, smoke is generated from the entire emitter.

FFX Vertex Paint is a very useful feature and I would be happy to know the cause and remedy for the above.

Hello Jumpei,

I agreee with you - FFXVertexPaint is a powerful tool as it lets you define velocities over the shape surface.

The source has to emit from the vertex color map and channel for vertex colors in 3ds max is 0.
It's a simple tweak where you need to Change Map Channel parameter in the FFX Geom Src001 to 0, instead of 1.

We will update the docs for the FumeFX 6 public beta.

Thank you very much for your kind reply.
I set the Map Channel to 0 and it simulates just fine! Thank you!
Another question, is there any way to change the brush size in FFX Vertex Paint?
I can probably only paint one vertex range, which is very time consuming when I want to paint an entire object, and I am having trouble getting a uniform color.
I would appreciate your reply.
