fume 4 & vray - vuvey - 03-30-2016 hello, I noticed, when I sim'd in vdb, the siming works.. but vray can't render the fume container if it is vdb.. is this a vray or fume issue? also there seems to be some sort of bug, in my smoke, I see dark vertical lines when rendering with vray.. apperently it has to do with the illumination map.. when I raise the threshold the lines become more opaque.. thx Re: fume 4 & vray - sitnisati - 03-31-2016 Hello, Yes, at this point the VRay shader does not support OpenVDB, but if you're rendering FumeFX caches only, then there is no point in using .vdb and .fxd is much better format. Can you please post the vertical line error image? Thank you. Regards, Kresimir Tkalcec Re: fume 4 & vray - vuvey - 03-31-2016 thx for the reply.. got it.. I'm trying out the vray volume grid.. works fine with vdb and f3d.. will stick to f3d tho.. so I can see upfront what the outcome is from fume.. from an early test, the vray volume grid is only 1/10 of the render time.. but was just a small test.. I've attached 2 imgs .. in the middle you can see the lines more clearly.. the only change between those 2 renders is the threshold in the illumination map.. with a value of 0.010 almost not visible, with 5 its visible becomes even more noticable in high res sims.. this is a small/mid res sim.. Re: fume 4 & vray - vuvey - 04-01-2016 also noticed something on the side.. when rendering with vray in batch mode, directly from maya, everything works fine and the images render.. but when using deadline (same only local machine) and I close maya.. images from vray get rendered but they're empty.. as long as I got maya open, they render fine.. is this an issue with deadline, or fume? non fume scenes render fine with vray in deadline.. as its a maya batch job.. thx Re: fume 4 & vray - sitnisati - 04-04-2016 Hello, Do you get this vertical line when rendering with mental ray? I'm trying to find out if this is a cache problem or shader problem. As for the Deadline - you'd probably need to have a FumeFX-Vray shader license. Thank you. Regards, Kresimir Tkalcec Re: fume 4 & vray - vuvey - 04-04-2016 thx for the reply.. i do get those artifacts while rendering with vray.. not sure why they occur, wasn't with fume 3.5.x i do have a vray shader license installed.. but i have the edu version.. is there a different one?!
