Is Dreamscape 2.5 compatible with Max 8?

  DS Cloud Layer Deselect
Posted by: hometime - 10-23-2005, 02:38 PM - Forum: DreamScape - Replies (12)

With Max 8 has come a bug that causes the Use Dreamscape Cloud Layer selector to be unselected on a fresh launch of Max.
The random seed value resets to zero, as well.

  submarine in the water
Posted by: flip_svw - 10-14-2005, 12:21 PM - Forum: DreamScape - Replies (5)

Hi,
i´m trying to animate a submarine that is going down.
But when i´m using the "use dynamics" my keys are away and the submarine is sinking down.
How can i animate some wakes with foam and animate my object , too?
when i don´t use the dynamics, there are wakes, but no foam.
In the example of the boat, how it is made, that the boat is floating along the sea? When i use the same parameter my submarine is going down.
Can somebody help me , please?
in the tutorial with the ball, it is shortly explained that you should animate some keys before the simulation, but it didn´t worked. and i don´t understand why you should animate some keys before the anmation when the animation is f.e. 100 keys later???

  Afterburn and volumetric lighting?
Posted by: Brian Harp - 10-11-2005, 04:30 PM - Forum: AfterBurn - Replies (4)

Hello,

Can't seem to get volumetric lighting to work with Afterburn.
example: Clouds casting volumetrics.

On the Afterworks website they have an image that's actually doing this,
can anyone point me in the right direction on some of the steps needed to do this?

Image reference (scroll down - bottom left - cloud casting volumetrics)

Thanks for the help,
Brian

  Dreamcape and Mental Ray
Posted by: iaotech - 09-12-2005, 03:56 PM - Forum: DreamScape - Replies (3)

An other question: can I use Mental Ray renderer with Dreamscape?
I get errors when I choose this renderer.
Is Dreamscape compatible with other renderers?

Thanks.

  DreamScape and Pure PCI card
Posted by: iaotech - 09-12-2005, 02:56 PM - Forum: DreamScape - Replies (3)

I just want to confirm from other members of the forum that Art's Pure PCI card (a hardware rendering accelerator) is not compatible with DreamScape. In their technical info, Art says that plug-ins that do shading and lighting may not be supported.

Anybody has info on that?

Thanks.

  need a sugestion
Posted by: ncc1701d - 08-12-2005, 08:53 PM - Forum: AfterBurn - Replies (3)

hi,
Volcano eruption gasses when erupting have the tendency to dissipate as they get higher in sky. Anyone have good suggestions on how to do? I have my gain and bias get less over time which is good. I am hoping to get it more fussy and less detailed overtime and even more transparent over time. suggestions anyone?
thanks

  More detail into Seascape surface
Posted by: duckyamuck - 08-11-2005, 02:06 AM - Forum: DreamScape - Replies (2)

I need to get more detail into the water surface. I have plenty of chop and my grid detail is maxed at 10 and the grid spacing is minned at .1. I have a Seascape Bump in the material, and that is capped at 1.0. But, still there is not enough detail.

I'm thinking that either a) I have to scale my scene and camera up around the sea, or b) scale down the sea within my scene.

Is there a global scale feature (kinda like there is in Afterburn)? If I try and use an XForm modifier, I get the same assertion failure that I get when applying a wave modifier.

Any thought and suggestions?

Thanks

T

  Deforming a Seascape surface
Posted by: duckyamuck - 08-10-2005, 01:17 AM - Forum: DreamScape - Replies (21)

I have a really nice, choppy looking sea, and I am putting larger swells into it using a Wave modifier. The surface deforms as predicted, but when I go to render it I get THIS!:

Assertion Error Information:

In file:'osmeval.cpp'

Line:1768

Is this Dreamscape or MAX? I'll post to discreet too.

Please help, its quite frustrating to get what you want in the preview and then not be able to render it.
