Simulation License
#1
I have installed the Simulation License on a network node.
When I attempt to do a network simulation (From Max 2010), I get:
"FumeFx 1.2c SL License does not exist". Even though I used the 1.2d simulation install.

So then I reinstalled the Max 2010 installation package and now I get
Task error: DLL C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2010\Plugins\Afterworks\Common\DCPFLICS.dlu failed to initialize.
And now the node can't be used for network rendering WTF?
The dlu path is listed in the plugin.ini file

I have to say your installation methods baffle me.

I was able to get my network node back to being able to net-render.

To do this:
1. Uninstalled AfterFLICS
2. Ran the FumeFX12R2010.EXE and removed everything
3. deleted AWutils.dll and TSRegisterNow.dll from the program Files/Autodesk/Max 2010 directory
4. deleted the Afterworks directory from the plugins directory
5. Ran the FumeFX12R2010.EXE again but installed this time
6. Ran the AfterFLICS setup file, and pointed the ini file too my server IP

Way too much damn voodoo........

I still want to know how to set it up to be able to Network Simulate...

Hello,

You have to install SL version and not full on the server and authorize it.
FumeFX uses DCPFLICS instead of AfterFLICS.

I did that, and when I tried to authorize it it said it could not open AfterFLICS.ini

Should I install the SL on my license server or the node?

If AfterFLICS is not used, why is it in the Download area for files?

I contacted Turbo Squid and they told me to install this file FumeFX 1.2 SL (64-bit) ACAP2010d.exe
What is the ACAP version for?

Can a node be used as a network simulation slave AND a rendernode?

EDIT: I am not trying to come off as obnoxious or unappreciative. There is just some frustration on our end to get it to work.

Hello,

Procedure with SL is exactly the same as with full version regarding installation and licensing.
All machines should have DCPFLICS installed.
You need to run SL authorization on your license server and share it to the worksation.

AfterFLICS is used for FumeFX-mental ray shader.
ACAP stand for 'Autodesk Certified Plugin'.
SL can sim and render as well.

My License server is running AfterFLICS (for MR net-rendering).
When I try to install FumeFXSL12R2010.EXE on the License server (the license server is a simple computer running XP), it nags me that max is not installed and exits.

What software do I install on license server to perform the SL authorization?

Hello,

You can copy DCPFLICS folder to the Progam Files folder and use AfterFLICS_tools.exe
to install it and start.

I have my serial numbers but no LIC file.
Doesnt AfterFLICS need an LIC file?

So I DONT have to install the SL software to my server like you said before, but need to install it on the node right?

Hello,

I meant to install it on the license server to deploy DCPFLICS.
Of course, license server does not need to have 3ds max installed at all, like in your case,
so you'd have to manually copy/paste/install/start DCPFLICS.
