Network Render Problem
#1
We have purchased additional Render node Licenses, and have server set up to link the render nodes too.

Max 2009, 64 bit, all service packs..

When we submit our project to the render farm, the particles render (coming from Pflow), but the FumeFx smoke does not render.
The node is connecting to server correctly (It shows up in the server window).
We are only rendering smoke and not fire.
If we use our work station as a render node, the Smoke renders correctly.

Our data files are located on our network, and all nodes have access to it.

Right now we are uninstalling Max 2009 on one of our nodes to test and see if this addresses the problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
David

It looks like a network problem.. I suppose..
Maybe you could try applying a bitmap to a scene object, place this bitmap to the same folder as your cache files, and render the scene over the network, if it rendered the scene with the bitmap and no fume.. then that might be a problem only sir Kresmir can answer. Big Grin

I was able to get every node to work (max 2009) except one.
Oddly, they all work in max 2010.

The Max 2009 error is a long list of missing DLL's, all fume related..
I have done the manual, the automatic installation, copied the directories (plugins/afterworks) manually from working nodes, but no joy.

Reeeaaalllly starting to piss me off too..

Hello,

You might check if plugin.ini file lists FumFX folders in the same order as mavhine that works.
Wrong order might cause loading issues.

Actually, they were not listed at all.
I added them (same as working unit).
Will try to test later today..
Thanks,
David
