Installing 32bit and 64bit versions
#1
Hi,

has the installer changed for 2010?

I'm trying to install Dreamscape and Fume for both 32 and 64 bit versions (mainly because Rayfire doesn't have PhysX in its 64-bit version).

Both installers give you only one choice on install and if I run the installer again, choose modify and select 64-bit versions I get errors when running Max, to do with DCPflics or Afterworks.dlu.

What's the preferred method of getting both 32 and 64 bit running?

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve,

I haven't tried it yet (I was waiting for the manual install, myself) but in theory you should be able to copy the appropriate folders and files in a different location, uninstall the current installation, replace the backups and install the other version.

I'll give it a shot when I get a little extra time, I don't see why it wouldn't work, checking the manual install for max2009 should tell you all the files/folders you need to backup (use the 2009 version as they changed the location of the Thinking particles extension). This of course is assuming they haven't changed anything.

best regards,
John

Thats what i do, install to temp locations then copy the files out.

I love the fact that AB4 was released with a manual install!!!
This should be done with every plugin!!!!!!!

Hello,

We went with our installers so that we can release updated and fixed more rapidly that this was the case before.
To make it simple - 32 bit and 64 bit installs are one file and unfortunately, you cannot install both under the same OS.

Manual installs (we have it for FumeFX, AfterBurn and DreamScape) are updated today and they include max 2010 files as well.

Hello Kresimir,

the Manual Install FumeFX1.2.Zip seems to be very cool and helpfull.

The only thing I'm missing are the files for Max2008. There are "only" files (32/64) for Max9, Max2009 and 2010.
Can I use the files of "r2009" as well or will this end in errors?

Thanks in advance
