Advantages of rendering with Vray or FinalRender?
#1
We are considering acquiring one of these renderers for an upcoming feature (we currently use scanline to render ffx), but I'd like to ask what the advantages there would be. The first one I know of:

--GI off of fire onto scene geometry
--renderer's more realistic mblur (instead of image mblur rendering effect) ??
--other advantages?

- Gi with the Aqmc , Qmc , Hgi , Photon Methods , you get Alot for the power in Fr .. and The Aqmc is Simply unbeatable when you know how to use it..
- Motion blur , you are not going to have Anything better than 2d Motion blur .. nothing atm on the Max Atmospherics except on Max Plugins like Pyrocloster , Fr is able to get Real 3d Motion blur .. I think After burn has a Special link as well with Fr .. But any other renderer will screw in 2d motion blur .. Fume will render with 2d Mblur from both vray and Fr at the moment..
- Well i dont know about Vray , but Fume and Fr has Alot of Big screen movie Experience Smile from Spiderman3 , to Superman , to Mist , Ghost Rider ,snakes , The Host , Dungeon Sciege , Street King , 2012 etc.. So that means the dev on Fr side has been asked to be tweaked and tweaked on every task that problem showed up .. If that is a + point

personnally , i do not use Mblur on Fume .. i find Any solution else than Slight usage of Comp Tricks useless for the amount of Ram and Time Asked ..

my 2 cents

Rif,

Thanks so very much - a truckload of great information. We're going to check into fR, at least for getting GI out of it. Faking it with lights is a bit cumbersome.
