Disable opacity AFC makes alpha incorrect

I've discovered that if you disable the AFC for smoke opacity fume renders the transparency and alpha based on the value of your rgb smoke color swatch (which is incorrect). So, if you have a black smoke color for example, your render will be completely transparent! If you use a linear 1-1 AFC curve instead it renders correctly.

Oh yeah, this reminds me of a feature request...

It would be great to have some kind of "Matte" override mode for Fume rendering to get proper occlusion of scene geometry without having to manually change all your colors to black and then back again afterwards. Better yet, unhook the render settings from the simulation UI and make them Atmospheric entries so we can have several render settings for one FFX sim.

u should be able to have render preset access loading by maxscript , you can also load gradients most likely .. witch means you could use ur favorite tool ( RPM ) create a script per pass and switch the FFX settings right ?
didnt try it but should be possible..

Hello,

I was looking at this report for FumeFX 1.1 and this behavior is as designed, so it's not a bug.
We wanted to allow user to control color and opacity with one control, without the need to match gradient and AFC.
